Fifteen beaches in North West awarded Blue Flag status for 2022



Fifteen beaches in the North West have been awarded Blue Flag status for 2022.

 

The iconic Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognised voluntary awards for beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators.

 

Rosses Point in Sligo has retained its blue flag status while 12 other beaches and two marinas in Donegal were also awarded the prestigious accolade.

 

Bundoran, Rossnowlagh, Murvagh, Culdaff, Carrickfinn, Downings, Fintra, Killahoey, Marble Hill, Naran, Portsalon and Stroove were the worthy beaches in Donegal as well as Rathmullan and Greencastle marinas.

 

Meanwhile, six beaches in the region have received the Green Coasts award
This award recognises beaches for their clean environment, excellent water quality and natural beauty.

 

Streedagh Beach and Rosses Point in Sligo have been awarded this accolade while beaches in Donegal include, Drumatinney, Dooey, Magherroarty, and Ballyheirnan.
