Tragic events of past week in Sligo not reflective of the town, says Mayor



The tragic events in the past week in Sligo is not reflective of the town, and Sligo is a safe place in which to live.

That was the message from the Mayor of Sligo at a Vigil held last evening in memory of murder victims, Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee

The Vigil was organised by the Sligo Pride group, attended by hundreds of people.

Mayor Cllr Arthur Gibbons said it was important the community supported the event….

Meanwhile, The Chairperson of Sligo Pride, Catriona Bonner, said she had been shocked by the two murders, which had shaken Sligo to its core.

She called for the introducion, without delay, of new hate crime legislation….
