Agriculture Minister to hold further talks with Pig Processors

Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue says he’s ‘acutely aware’ of the challenges facing pig-farmers.

The Donegal TD met the IFA last night to discuss the future of the sector.

Pig-farmers protested outside his department yesterday morning, calling for a 100 million euro rescue package.

Speaking in the Dáil last night, Minister McConalogue said he’s considering the proposal.

OceanFM news understand that further talks are due to take place between the Minister and the IFA later today.

The latest round of talks are due to commence at 4 p.m.
