North west residents encouraged to donate blood due to low supply

Residents across the north west are being encouraged book an appointment to donate blood.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service say they are struggling to get appointments for the Leitrim and Donegal clinics operating next week.

On Monday, blood services will be operating in the Bee Park, Manorhamilton from 4:45pm until 8pm.

A clinic will also be operated in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey from Tuesday to Thursday with varying opening times depending on the day.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Aisling O’Brien from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service says hospital demand is up while supply is down.
