Reduction in those waiting for hospital admission in the region



There has been a reduction in the number of people waiting for admission to the north west’s two main hospitals today.

46 people are waiting on trolleys or chairs in Letterkenny University Hospital, 11 fewer than yesterday and 20 people are waiting in Sligo University Hospital, 10 fewer than Thursday.

Nationally, there 440 people waiting on trolleys or chairs in an Irish hospital which is 92 less than yesterday’s figure according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s Trolley Watch.

When it comes to Covid-19 patients, 15 people receiving treatment for Covid-19 in Letterkenny and 18 in Sligo according to the latest HSE data.

One patient in each hospital is also in the ICU with the virus.

707 people are in an Irish Hospital with Covid-19, 71 of whom are in the ICU, a reduction of four and three respectively.
