Over 1,000 new local cases of Covid-19 in latest 14 day incidence rate figures



1,065 new cases of Covid 19 were confirmed for the Ocean FM franchise area in the latest 14 day incidence rate figures.

 

The highest number of cases and highest infection rate was in the Sligo/ Strandhill local Electoral Area, where 313 cases, and an infection rate of 1481.4 per 100,000 head of population was recorded. The R figure was set at 1355.1. The Sligo Drumcliff Local Electoral Area narrowly surpassed this figure with a rate of 1369.2, 242 cases were detected here.

 

In total there were 774 cases found in the County of Sligo between November 23rd and December 6th.  219 cases were registered in the Ballymote Tubbercurry LEA, a rate of 819.3 per 100,000 population.

In stark contrast to having one of the highest infection rates in the Country less than a month ago the Manorhamilton LEA reported just 42 new cases over the 14 day period a rate of infection which stood at 388.1 the lowest of all local electoral areas in this region.

 

249 new cases were reported in the Donegal local Electoral area an infection rate of 939.9

 

The Government has updated its public health assessment in relation to the Omicron variant.

 

Government Communications on Covid will be updated to emphasise that everyone should take account of their overall health, their vaccine status, and the spread of Omicron in other countries before they decide to travel.

 

Anyone eligible for a booster vaccine should avail of it where possible, if contemplating international travel in the near future.

 

Airlines and ferry companies will continue to check pre-departure test compliance, with spot-checking by border management officials also maintained at points of arrival.

 

Passengers arriving from Great Britain will be advised to undertake daily antigen tests for five consecutive days, beginning with the day of arrival and to self-isolate immediately and seek a PCR test if they develop symptoms or have a positive antigen test.
