Works to begin shortly on new wastewater treatment plant in Kilcar

Works are to begin in the coming weeks on a new wastewater treatment plant and upgrading of existing infrastructure in Kilcar, Co. Donegal.

Colm Claffey, Regional Delivery lead with Irish Water says over 1,000 wheelie bins of raw sewage is being discharged into Tawny Bay everyday.

Works are due to begin in early January which will be carried out by Veolia Water with the aim of completing the new plant by early 2023.

Colm Claffey says the new plant will contribute to the ‘social and economical development’ of the town.
