Large number of new Covid-19 cases detected in Manorhamilton Local Electoral Area



196 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the Manorhamilton local electoral area in the latest 14 day incidence figures.

 

When it comes to the level of infection per 100,000 of population the figure is almost twice the R figure which was set at 924.1 The Manorhamilton area returned a figure of 1811.3

 

This was by far the highest for all the local electoral areas in this region.

 

In total there were 890 cases recorded across all 5 local electoral areas between October 26th and November 8th.

 

169 cases were recorded in the Donegal Local electoral area. This represented a figure of 637.9.

 

The Ballymote Tubbercurry local electoral area recorded the highest figure in Sligo with 242 cases, a rate of 905.3.   There were 138 in the Sligo/Drumcliff area a figure of 780.8

 

Finally, 145 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the Sligo Strandhill local electoral area which resulted in a figure of 686.3

 

The Carndonagh Local Electoral Area in Donegal has the highest rate of Covid-19 in the country.

Its 14-day incidence rate is 1,993 cases per 100,000 people, with nearly one in every 50 people testing positive in two weeks.

Donegal GP Ciaran Ó Fearraigh  is urging people to act as the virus spreads widely.
