Motorists in North West urged to be vigilant of deers



Motorists in the North West are being warned of the increased risk of deer on the region’s roads during the autumn months.

The Irish deer population has increased in recent times and consequently, drivers are being warned to be extra vigilant on the roads.

The most common times for the male deer to roam are at dawn and dusk, which in October coincides with the morning and evening rush hours.

Manorhamilton Municipal District Councillor, Frank Dolan, has raised awareness on this issue in the past and says with many more workers starting to commute to their employment, due to the easing of restrictions, there is a greater chance of encountering wild deer.
