Strandhill bollards impacting on the elderly and those with mobility issues

The bollards at Strandhill need to be removed for the ‘benefit of those with mobility issues and the elderly.

That’s the view of Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor, Tom MacSharry, who submitted a motion recently to the local authority requesting the bollards at the seafront to be removed.

An amendment to his motion by Independent Councillor, Declan Bree, that they would be removed as ‘soon as it’s safe to do so’ was carried.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor MacSharry says the car park is too far away and it’s unfair to ask the elderly or those with mobility issues to walk that distance.
