Unique challenges facing north west hospitality sector

A Sligo Restaurateur and former president of the Restaurants of Ireland has warned of a number of serious challenges facing the local hospitality.

The warning is being issued ahead of new guidelines for the reopening of the hospitality sector later today.

The Failte Ireland guidelines are expected to say there will be no time limit for outdoor dining but there will be a limit for indoor dining.

It’s also expected that tables will have to be one metre apart for both indoor and outdoor dining.

Anthony Gray claims that many local restaurants are losing staff to Hotels that will be opening for indoor dining prior to restaurants and bars.

He also says the situation locally is confounded by the loss of business to the Hospitality sector in Norther Ireland.

In anticipation of today’s announcement the owner of the Eala Bhán and Hooked Restaurants in Sligo says the sector will be willing to operate with time restrictions and the one metre distance between tables.
