Two significant land parcels in Sligo for sale at Hazelwood, Doonally

Two major land sales totalling 245 acres could be on the way in Sligo.

And they could result in a total price of more than €3m changing hands.

One of the sales is for a 76-acre non-residential farm at Hazelwood.

Most of the land was once part of the Hazelwood Estate, owned by the Wynnes for 200 years until the last of the family left in 1923.

In 2009, the land had two sets of planning permission for the development of almost 800 houses but this permission has now expired.

The land remains in grass on either side of the R286 Sligo to Dromahair road.

It has a guide price of €1.15m.

Also on sale are almost 170 acres, known as Doonally Farm, about four kilometres from Sligo on the N16 Manorhamilton road.

It would have been known to many in the farming community as part of the Sligo AI Centre.

This land, which has a guide price of €1.3m, is currently owned by a conglomerate that includes, among others, Aurivo and the Donegal Investment Group.

It was converted to a dairy farm in 2011 and has modern buildings, including a milking parlour.

Both land parcels are among the most significant to come on the market in the region for some time.

Both sales are being handled by Savills.
