Sligo man appears before court in connection with €8.2m drugs find



A Sligo man has appeared before court charged in connection with an €8.2m drugs find in Co. Kildare this week.

Eugene Mulligan, originally from Ballymote, faces allegations of possessing cannabis with the intent to sell or supply.

60kgs of cannabis with an estimated street value of €1.2m was found in the vehicle he was driving.

A farmer, Eric Lawlor, is charged with 5 counts including the possession of cannabis and cocaine with the intnet to sell and a breach of the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act.

The combined total of drugs found during searches was an estimated €8.2m.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear before Nass District Court on the 17th of February.
