Ballyshannon Community Hospital officially opens



The Ballyshannon Community Hospital has officially opened today

The new facility cost €36.7m, and is currently opening on a phased basis, to be fully operational by December, with 52 long-stay beds and 20 short-stay beds.

The care provided includes convalescence, rehabilitation, respite, and palliative care, along with services such as Speech and Language Therapy, Dentistry, and Psychiatry of Old Age.

Frank Morrison, of the HSE, is the Head of Service for Older Persons, also highlighted that the hospital will be of economic benefit to the North West, with 147 staff to be employed.

Although the hospital has not opened to full capacity yet, local Fine Gael councillor, Barry Sweeny, says it’s a momentous day for the region.
