Latest Covid-19 figures for the north west



94 further Covid-19 deaths have been reported in the Republic of Ireland by the Department of Health, 1,013 new cases of Covid-19 were also confirmed here yesterday.

 

27 additional cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Donegal yesterday, there were 17 in Sligo and less than 5 in Leitrim.

 

There are 1,300 people with Covid-19 in public hospitals – the lowest figure in almost 4 weeks.

 

202 people with the disease are in intensive care.

 

Last night there were 39 people with Covid-19 in Sligo University Hospital with 4 in the ICU Unit.

 

There were 70 confirmed Covid-19 cases in Letterkenny, with 5 patients there in ICU.

 

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin told his parliamentary party last night the UK variant is increasing the disease’s reproductive number by 0.5 and is slowing the decline in case numbers.

 

He also told members that reopening schools and construction will be the priority during Level 5, and he expects the numbers in hospital to be around 800 by the end of the month.
