David Clarke calls ‘time’ with Mayo footballers



David Clarke has announced his retirement from intercountty football after 20 years with the Mayo senior football team.

The Ballina Stephenites clubman works as a garda in Tubbercurry – and his departure follows Donal Vaughan’s announcement on Sunday that’s he’s also retiring.

Clarke, who’s 37, won eight Connacht championship winners medals, two national leagues and two All-Stars. He also won an All-Ireland club title with Ballina in 2005.
