Donegal urged to give ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’ to asylum seekers



A Donegal TD is calling for a ‘céad míle fáilte’ to be given to up to 350 asylum seekers who are expected to be coming to the county.

It’s understood a contract has been signed to bring the asylum seekers to live at former student accommodation on the Port Road in Letterkenny.

A meeting between officials and the Department of Justice to discuss preparations for their arrival is expected to take place next week.

Independent TD Thomas Pringle and Independent Senator Eileen Flynn says its an opportunity for Donegal to show welcome for people who need international protection.
