Terry Hyland staying on as Leitrim manager

Leitrim GAA has tonight confirmed that Terry Hyland is staying on as Leitrim senior football manager for another year.

The Cavan man’s re-appointment was formally approved at Monday night’s meeting of the county’s GAA Management Committee.

It appears his backroom are staying on with him for the 2021 season.

Hyland has been in the role for two years, having guided Leitrim to promotion from Division 4 and a national league final at Croke Park in 2019.

However, the team was relegated from Division 3 this year after a Covid-interrupted season.

Below is the Leitrim GAA statement:

“Leitrim GAA is delighted to announce that Senior Team Manager Terry Hyland has agreed to continue in the role of Senior Football Team Manager for the 2021 season. This evening’s meeting of Leitrim GAA Management Committee formally approved this position. Leitrim GAA wishes to thank Terry and his management team for the efforts they have made over the 2020 season, in what has proved a most challenging year, given the extraordinary set of circumstances that we have been through since last March. We are delighted to have secured the services of Terry and our outgoing management team and look forward to the continued progress of this group of players over the 2021 season.”

Hyland spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Rian Bailey about his decision to remain on for a third season:
