293 people were waiting for a bed in Sligo University Hospital during October

Sligo University Hospital had the 4th highest number of people waiting for a bed nationally for the month of October.

That’s according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s Trolley Watch that showed 293 people were waiting on trolleys or in the emergency department.

188 patients were waiting in Letterkenny University Hospital during this time with University Hospital Limerick the worst affected in the country with 1,064 people waiting.

The total figure for the month in Ireland was 4,499 which is nine times higher than April’s number of 497.

However, it’s still almost a third less than January’s figure of 12,024; the highest so far in 2020
