The issue in relation to the cost associated with ‘domestic waste water treatment systems’ was discussed at the recently monthly meeting of Leitrim County Council.
Many home owners have been quoted prices in the region of 12,000 to 15,000 when it comes to upgrading systems.
The maximum grant available at present is 5,000 euro.
Cllr. Sean McDermott is the Cathoirthleach of the Manorhamilton Municipal District of Leitrim Council. He brought forward a recent motion to local authority requesting them to contact Minister of State Peter Burke to increase the grant.
