Alarming incidence rates for local electoral areas



The latest figures on the number of Covid-19 cases per electoral area have been published for the Counties of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

 

 

All 5 local electoral areas in the Ocean FM franchise area have increased the number of positive cases when comparisons are drawn to last week’s figures.

 

 

348 new cases have been reported in the 5 respective local electoral areas.

 

 

The Sligo/Strandhill area has registered 123 new cases, the highest number reported in all of the local electoral areas between October 6th and 19th.

 

 

Elsewhere in Sligo 50 cases were reported in Ballymote/ Tubbercurry and 60 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Sligo/Drumcliff.

 

The number of Coronavirus cases in the Donegal electoral area was recorded at 85.  While Manorhamilton in Leitrim recorded 30 cases during the 14 day period.

 

 

 

When broken down into rates of people infected per 100,000 of population the latest figures also provide cause for concern.  The rate of infection in Sligo/Strandhill is 582.1.  In Sligo/Drumcliff the rate reads at 339.5, Donegal’s reading in the latest figures is 320.9.  The figure in Manorhamilton stands at 277.2 while the lowest rate of infection was in Ballymote/Tubbercurry where the number stands at 187.

 

Elsewhere in Leitrim 14 cases were recorded in the Ballinamore electoral area and 45 in Carrick-on-Shannon.

 

 

 

Finally the remaining numbers for the other Donegal electoral areas were: North Inishowen 57, South Innishowen 113, Milford 116, Letterkenny 82, Lifford/ Stranorlar 132 and Glenties 37

 

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed 3 additional deaths from Covid-19 yesterday and 1,006 new cases.  56 new cases were reported in Donegal, 30 in Sligo and less than 5 in Leitrim.
