The Sinn Fein spokesperson on justice and equality says calls to deploy the army on the streets to back up the Gardaí are over the top.
Calls for such actions were made after large numbers of students gathered at the Spanish Arch area of Galway City.
Speaking earlier to Ocean FM news the Sligo Leitrim TD, Martin Kenny says deploying the Army on streets is unwarranted and would not go down well with the public.
