Councillor slams lack of investment in Ballygawley sewerage facilities

A Sligo councillor is hitting out at Irish Water over what he says is a decision not to invest in a new sewerage plant for the village of Ballygawley.

Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says the county council has already bought a site for a treatment plant while the village of Ballygawley had grown during the last 10 years.

He has also criticised a suggestion that people in Ballygawley could apply for a connection to the Collooney plant three kilometres away, where raw sewerage was being pumped into the Owenmore River due to loading.
