People across north west urged to shop local



People across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are being urged to shop local.

As the country entered Phase 2 of the governments plan to reopen the nations economy on Monday and that online sales have seen a large increase in recent months, the importance of boosting local economies is being highlighted.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, says that the wholesale and retail sector has the largest share of employment at 13.1%.

And for small businesses who need help reopening, they can avail of Government Restart Grant of between €2,000 and €10,000 through local authorities.

Speaking to OceanFM News, CEO of Sligo Chamber of Commerce, Aidan Doyle says local businesses are the ‘heartbeat’ of local economies.
