Sligo Rovers face Cork City on Saturday – online!

The League of Ireland may be in shutdown mode – but Sligo Rovers and Cork City are getting ready to play each other in a virtual Premier Division game this Saturday night at 7:45pm.

The two clubs have come together to play an online match (using FIFA 2020) which supporters will be able to watch and interact with from the comfort of their own home.

The evening will feature the usual matchnight experiences from the Showgrounds: pre-match interviews with Rovers boss Liam Buckley and his Cork counterpart Neale Fenn. There’ll be a digital match programme on sale – and even a half-time raffle.

Match commentary will be provided by RTÉ’s Adrian Eames and Alan Cawley, with soccer correspondent Tony O’Donoughue providing the team news etc.

Sligo Rovers media officer Rory Houston spoke to Ocean FM Sport about this uique online event:

The online broadcast will be hosted by Jessica Farry and Keith O’Dwyer.

Tickets for the game are on sale at www.sligorovers.com.
