A TD is calling for Covid-19 restrictions in rural areas to be relaxed to allow people there to return to work.
Denis Naughten, a former cabinet minister, says parts of the country with low rates of infection could be used as a testing ground for the easing of measures – so that there is a clearer picture when cities begin to return to normal.
Leitrim has one of the lowest number of cases nationally with 67, while Dublin has the highest with 9,751.
