People across the north west are being encouraged to ‘Shine Your Light’ in solidarity with those fighting Covid-19.
The campaign is calling on people to show their support for the sick, those who have died and all on the frontlines battling the virus by lighting up their home this evening.
Organisers say people can get creative using what they can to light up the night at 9pm this evening.
Public buildings and embassies around the world are also joining the initiative including locally such as Sligo City Hall and Leitrim County Council Offices.
However, the national Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management (NDFEM) says if lighting things such as a candle, to keep it away from anything flammable and are encouraging the use of battery powered lamps and torches.
