Farmers in North West under severe pressure due to COVID-19

The livelihood of farmers across the North West are being put in severe jeopardy due to the Coronavirus.

That’s according to Patrick Rooney the National Interim Chairman of the Beef Plan Movement.

Supermac’s will close its 108 restaurants across Ireland from Thursday evening.

It’s become the latest fast-food chain to shut its doors, after McDonald’s closed last night.

Subway, Nando’s and Starbucks coffee shops have also closed in the past couple of days.

Patrick Rooney who operates farms in both Leitrim and Donegal has also accused the Meat Industry of adding to the worries of many farmers over stating the likely fall in demand with restaurants closing,

The Beef plan movement official says closing marts in the region is cutting off the only avenue farmers have to generate income.
