Michéal Naughton is new LGFA President

Donegal hotelier and County Councillor Michéal Naughton has been elected as the new President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.

Naughton was elected to the role at this weekend’s LGFA Annual Congress in Loughrea – and will succeed outgoing Uachtarán Maire Hickey at the end of the year.

He is a native of Castleconnor in west Sligo – and was one of two Sligo candidates standing for President this weekend. Lavagh’s Liam McDonagh was the other. Dublin’s Dominic Leech was the third candidate.

The voting was as follows:
Michéal Naugthon – 70
Liam McDonagh – 29
