Two surfers rescued during Storm Jorge



Two people were rescued from the sea by the Sligo based Irish Coast Guard helicopter yesterday.

Rescue 118 was deployed when two surfers got into difficulty around Sligo.

Both received medical assistance from the National Ambulance Service.

The incident occurred during a Status Orange wind warning for the region as Storm Jorge made landfall.

While a number of homes and businesses are still without power; 11 around Ballytivnan in Sligo, 27 in Ballyshannon and a further 76 in Glenties.
