Funding boost for Sligo amenities

Over €235,000 is being allocated for two outdoor amenities in Co. Sligo.

€91,200 is going towards building a new trail, with the necessary fencing, benches and signage, along the Lady Ann Walk Project at Clogherbeg by Lough Gill.

A further €144,400 is going towards the upgrading and extension of the existing car park at Knocknarea, which is a busy parking area for those who are walking the Queen Maeve trail.

The funding comes from the Department of Rural and Community Development under their Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.

Welcoming the funding, Sligo/Leitrim Fine Gael TD, Frank Feighan, says the areas are popular tourist destinations and important to the local economies.
