Marian Harkin’s campaign team are optimistic that she will be returned as a TD from Sligo-Leitrim.
Campaign workers say they full expect to take a seat and have predicted that the former MEP and TD could be elected before the final count because to her ability to secure transfers from across the counties of Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and Roscommon.
Those involved in the Harkin Campaign have admitted that many issues were raised on the doorsteps over the past three weeks. The issues have varied from housing, water, health and many local issues.
When it comes to South Donegal and North Roscommon, they say there was a genuine feeling of voters feeling ‘disenfranchised’ and ‘cut off’ from the rest of their respective counties.
