Christmas coming early for new residents in Collooney

Christmas is coming early for new residents in a County Sligo town.

It follows the completion of work on 15 new social housing units in Collooney.

Many of the tenants getting the new accommodation have been on the housing list for years and it’s expected some of them will be in their new homes for Christmas.

The homes, at Owenmore Drive, include two-bed and four-bed units, and will cater for a variety of tenants, including elderly couples and people with special needs.

Sligo Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says the development is an example of what local authorities throughout the State should be doing to address the housing crisis.
