Sligo and Leitrim included in the first expansion of the Walks Scheme



Sligo and Leitrim have been included in the first expansion of the Walks Scheme.

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Micahel Ring, made the announcement saying the scheme will double in size going to 80 trails.

There will be an additional 1.8km added to the Keash Hill Trail and a further 24km for the Leitrim Way.

The scheme will involve the cooperation of 123 farmers and landowners.

Leitrim Development Company will also be able to employ a coordinator to help develop walks in the county.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Fine Gael Councillor and Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council, Enda McGloin, says the Green and Blue ways have proven very successful with tourists.
