Hopes that a redevelopment of North West Hospice will begin by Summer 2020

It is hoped the redevelopment of the North West Hospice will begin by the Summer of 2020.

Fine Gael Candidate, Frank Feighan, raised the issue in the Seanad this morning where he said the service is ‘vital to the north west region.’

Costs are being finalised for the upgrading of the existing 8 bed in patient ward to 12, accommadation for the palliative care team, out patient and consultation facilities, management offices and a meeting room.

The funding is allocatted under the HSE Palliative Care Services.

In response to Senator Feighan’s question requesting an update on the upgrade, Minister of State, Jim Daly, says the aim is to provide palliative care for every region in the country.
