Gardai in Sligo/Leitrim have issued a renewed appeal this lunchtime for people to be on the alert for hoax phone calls seeking to hack and get money from accounts.
It follows an earlier warning from gardai in Donegal about fake letters trying to get personal and financial details in an effort to get money.
In Sligo/Leitrim, people have received phone calls on both residential lines and mobiles.
Members of the public who gt such calls should discontinue them immediately and contact their bank through official numbers.
Sligo based Gardai Billy Horan says the initial call may be from a location in Ireland but the transfers to a location outside the country.
