Claim: Public transport from Sligo to Dublin being used for purchase of drugs

It’s been claimed drug users in the north west are travelling to Dublin on public transport to buy cheap drugs.

That’s according to findings by the North West Drugs and Alcohol Taskforce which, along with Iarnrod Eireann, will be launching their ‘Safe Campaign’ highlighting the importance of a safe and enjoyable journey for people.

Sean O’Connor from the taskforce says recreational users don’t realise that they are funding criminal gangs by buying the likes of cannabis or cocaine from dealers.

Mr. O’Connor says people travelling on the on Sligo/Dublin train line or using buses to buy drugs in the capital is a common occurrence.
