Fianna Fail spokesperson on Transport describes overcrowding situation on Sligo line as ‘a joke’

The move by Iarnród Éireann which requested passengers to stagger their journeys in an attempt to reduce overcrowding at peak times on trains has been described as complete joke.

The Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Transport Marc Mac Sharry TD has slammed Minister Shane Ross for failing to deal with the long running capacity issues on the rail network.

Deputy Mac Sharry said, the call from Iarnród Éireann shows just how out of control the situation has become.

The Sligo based TD has accused Minister Ross of failing to follow up on a commitment that 28 carriages would be refurbished and delivered by 2020 and as a result the railway network has ground to a halt
