A Leitrim councillor says the Justice Minister needs to clarify why he can reopen two garda stations in Dublin but not in Co Leitrim.
Rush and Stepaside stations in Dublin were two of 139 closed between 2012 and 2013 during a period of significant cutbacks – however it has since been announced they are to re-open at the end of next month.
A number of stations were closed in Co Leitrim during that same period, including Drumkeeran and Dromahair.
Cllr Mary Bohan says Minister Charlie Flanagan needs to relook at opening stations in rural area.
