Taoiseach and Transport Minister to visit Sligo next week

This day week will be a historic day in County Sligo with the arrival of both the Taoiseach and the Transport Minister to attend the official sod turning ceremony for the €100m N4 road project from Collooney to Castlebaldwin.

Leo Varadkar and Shane Ross are also expected to travel to the sites of two other major roads projects.

The Western Distributor Road from the Caltragh interchange on the N4 to Oakfield in Sligo Town, and the proposed new bridge across the Garavogue in the Doorly Park/Cleveragh area.

The sod-turning on the N4 will mark the end of a campaign lasting almost three decades.

During that time, about 30 people lost their lives in crashes on the road.

Sligo/Leitrim TD Tony McLoughlin says the Friday, Feb. 22nd event has been a long time coming.
