MEP Harkin objects to EU-Singapore trade deal

A Midlands North West MEP is objecting to a provision that enables a court system with independent judges to settle disputes between investors and state.

The European Parliament has gaven the green light to the free trade agreement which will remove virtually all tariffs between the EU and Singapore within five years.

MEP Marian Harkin says the deal could leave Ireland open to being sued by international investors.
