80th anniversary of Yeats’s death to be marked in Drumcliffe this evening, Monday

An evening of music and poetry will take place in Drumcliffe this evening to mark the 80th anniversary of the death of the Nobel Prize-winning poet W B Yeats.

Starting at 7:30pm in Drumcliffe church and graveyard, the event will celebrate Yeats’s life and works.

It’s organised by the Cos Cos Festival in partnership with Drumcliffe/Rathcormac Tidy Towns Committee and Drumcliffe Church of Ireland Parish.

Michael Kirby, one of the local organisers, has been telling Ocean FM News, how the event started:

Susan O’Keeffe, director, Yeats Society Sligo, says it’s a great example of local people coming together to celebrate the poet.
