Sligo Leitrim TD Eamon Scanlon said he is happy a commitment given in relation to the Fair Deal Scheme will be honoured.
Deputy Scanlon raised the issue in the Dail about how the Fair Deal Scheme is capped at three years in relation to someone’s home, but there is no limit in relation to their land.
As it stands 7.5% of the value of someone’ property and 80% of their pension goes towards their care.
Where the family home is concerned that is limited to three years. However where land is concerned there is no time limit.
Deputy Scanlon said he is happy with Tanaiste Simon Coveney’s response that it was just a matter of implementing the decisions already made in relation to this.
