The number of empty commercial units across the North West counties is much higher than the national average.
The figures are compliled by geodirectory which keeps a database of the type and nature of buildings and what they are used for.
In this case they are seeking to find out how well local economies are doing based on the number of empty units.
The national average is 13% but all the North West counties are above that with Sligo recording the highest number of vacant units in the whole country at 18%.
