Tackling ‘burnout’ among priorities for Medical Council



Supporting doctors by reducing ‘burnout’ is an area that the Irish Medical Council hopes to tackle as it starts a new five year term.

Last week, the Council elected its first female President, Bray GP Dr. Rita Doyle while specialist in Public Health Medicine based in the North West Dr. Anthony Breslin was elected Vice President.

The role of the Council is to regulate doctors practising in Ireland and to ensure a quality service for patients.

Dr. Breslin says ongoing patient safety but also reviewing the ethical guidelines on abortion and addressing doctor burnout are among their priorities:
