Closure of Alzheimers unit yet another blow to the North West



A Fianna Fail TD has told the Dail that the closure of the Alzheimer’s Unit at St John’s Hospital in Sligo is another blow to the North West.

The move, by the HSE, will see all patients moved to other facilities by March.

There are four remaining family members in the unit which has been in place for over 20 years.

Speaking in the Dail yesterday, Deputy Marc McSharry said people in the North West are being treated as second class citizens:
