Letterkenny still has some of the highest numbers on trolleys

Letterkenny remains one of the worst-affected hospitals in terms of the number of patients waiting on trolleys.

Only Cork and Galway have higher numbers than the 36 people waiting in LUH.

But the HSE says just two patients have been waiting over 9 hours in Letterkenny.

While there are only 10 people waiting in Sligo, 9 of those people have been waiting for over 9 hours.

A 2012 Health Information and Quality Authority report recommended that the total patient time spent in an emergency department should be less than six hours.
