Sligo officially ends being European Capital of Volunteering for 2017



Sligo has officially ended its year as European Capital of Volunteering.

The formal closure of the year took place at a ceremony in Sligo City Hall this afternoon.

A special lighting show and the turn of thr Christmas tree lights will take place at city hall later.

Among those in attendance was Justice minister Charlie Flanagan.

Aarhus in Denmark will be the European Capital of Volunteering for 2018.

Ciara Herrity of Sligo Volunteer Centre looked back at the past year during this afternoon’s ceremony.
