Councillors call for money to improve road between Boyle and Ballina

South Sligo councillors are looking for money for work on a dangerous road that goes from Boyle to Ballina and which passes through Roscommon, Mayo and Sligo.

And local Independent Councillor Margaret Gormley is calling for a meeting of representatives of all three county councils in an effort to get funding for the road as quickly as possible.

Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey asked for a traffic speed and volume counter to be put on the road at Mullinabreena South.

He said there have been numerous accidents on the road and local people are concerned about safety.

Cllr Gormley said the road is 64.5km in length, 42.5km of which are in County Sligo.
