Emotional scenes for Sligo CF campaigner outside Dail Eireann

There have been emotional scenes outside the Dail as Cystic Fibrosis campaigners protest about the delay in making the drug Orkambi available.

More than 600 people gathered outside the gates of Leinster House for a minutes silence followed by a demonstration involving purple balloons and ribbons.

The matter was raised in the Dail again today by Fianna Fail’s Micheal Martin while Minister for Health Simon Harris has said he needs more time for discussions with the pharmaceutical company.

Campaigners say they will return for another protest on April 5th if there has been no update by then.

Sligo’s Aisling Golden, who’s sister Grainne passed away from the disease last year, described the scenes outside the Dail.

CF sufferers say their lives have been transformed and even saved by Orkambi and Kalydeco.

These friends and family members say their loved ones can’t wait any longer
